Arterial Doppler

An Arterial Doppler ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses sound waves to evaluate the blood flow in your arteries. It’s crucial for detecting issues such as blockages, narrowing, or poor circulation that could lead to serious health conditions like peripheral artery disease (PAD).

Assessing Arterial Health and Blood Flow

What Is an Arterial Doppler Ultrasound?

An Arterial Doppler ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to measure the speed and direction of blood flow through the arteries. It is typically used to assess circulation in the legs, arms, and neck. This test helps detect blockages or narrowing of arteries that could lead to complications such as stroke, heart attack, or poor circulation.

Why Choose an Arterial Doppler Ultrasound?

  • Detect Blockages: An Arterial Doppler ultrasound helps identify blockages or narrowing of arteries, a key indicator of peripheral artery disease (PAD).
  • Evaluate Circulatory Health: It’s an essential test to evaluate the health of your arteries, especially if you’re at risk for heart disease or stroke.
  • Non-invasive & Safe: The test is completely painless, non-invasive, and uses no radiation, making it safe for all patients.

What to Expect During the Procedure

During an Arterial Doppler ultrasound, a licensed sonographer will apply a small amount of gel to the area being examined. A transducer (small handheld device) will be moved gently across the skin to capture images of blood flow through the arteries. The procedure is quick and typically takes about 20–30 minutes. You’ll receive radiologist-reviewed results on the same day.
